PennTango is a student group established for the promotion and enjoyment of Argentine Tango in the Penn community. Come and hone your tango techniques in December’s new tango series led by our guest instructor Linda Chen. In each class we will work on elements of technique necessary for the theme of the class as well as sensibility, connection and communication with your dancing partner. In addition, we offer weekday practicas (for PennTango members only) periodically to help folks review and practice the steps learned in class. At the end of the semester, Philadelphia Science Forum is going to have a happy hour for members. A few Penn alumni working in pharmaceutical industry are also invited to join this event to socialize with PSF members and interested graduate students. On Dec 5th, Saturday morning, PSF is going to have Penn alumni from Schering Plough, Merck and J & J to share us their life style and working experience in pharmaceutical industry. The event will be in panel discussion format, language may be in Chinese. Lunch and drinks would be provided.

b. Ethics of Medical Research during the Holocaust: Dinner and Lecture with Dr. Art Caplan, Sponsored by the Maimonides Jewish Medical Students Society and GAPSA

Join us for dinner and a discussion with Dr. Art Caplan about medical research conducted during WWII. He will discuss the type of research that went on, describing how it contributes to some of our modern basic medical insights, and the ethics of such studies and their applicability to medicine today. This medical research is something that affected Russian POWs, Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, Polish, and many others.

GAPSA, with guidance from Off-Campus Services and in collaboration with the UA, is collecting survey data. Simply click the link below to *RATE YOUR LANDLORD* in five minutes. With your help, we’ll be able to publish significant results on landlord ratings which will provide incoming and current students with the information they need to make better-informed decisions about housing. You may also view last year’s results by following the link below.
The Prizes: To show appreciation for your time and effort, the Office of Off-Campus Services is offering a brand-new *Lenovo IdeaPad S10e NETBOOK* as a prize for a randomly selected student from the pool of surveys. In addition, there will be a raffle prize of *dinner for two at Penne* and another raffle prize for two tickets to a show at Annenberg. All entries are eligible for the randomly selected prizes through December 11, 2009.

c. DSCC’s 4th Annual Winter ‘Essentials’ Drive, sponsored by the Doctoral Student Steering Committee (DSSC) at the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2)
Dates: November 30 - December 18

DSSC is committed to getting involved in the community and has partnered with New Visions, a day shelter in Camden for our 4th annual winter ‘Essentials’ drive. Please consider participating by donating some winter essentials. Essentials include new or slightly used blankets, sheets, men’s/women’s coats, winter clothing; new men’s/women’s underwear or socks and unopened travel size toiletries. You can drop off donated items in the designated boxes in the Graduate Student Center, Caster Building (3701 Locust Walk), or the SP2 Research Building (3815 Walnut) between 11/30/08 and 12/18/09.
