Monday, 9/14, 5-7 PM, Warden Garden, Penn Museum
Come catch up with old friends, meet new ones and celebrate the start of another school year. SASgov is hosting a party at the Penn Museum in the Warden Garden located at 3260 South St. The event is free with a Penn SAS graduate ID and government ID and will have beer, wine, cocktails and catering by Di Bruno Brothers! The Museum will also allow students to walk around parts of the museum too.

a. Call for papers: Graduate Workshop of the Penn Interdisciplinary Program for Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism
We are interested in bringing into dialogue a variety of scholars, approaches and themes, especially as related to this year’s topic of Sovereignty, Territoriality, and Plural Citizenships. Paper topics might include questions of identity, colonial discourses, diplomacy, nationalisms, postcolonial state
formation, gender and citizenship, contests over and within national and territorial boundaries, and liberation movements.
Our focus is broad, and we invite graduate students in any department to apply. The presenters will be invited to participate in roundtables; with scholars in the field and debate the themes for this year’s; workshop at the end of Spring 2010. Papers may be included in an electronic publication of the Graduate Workshop of the Penn Program for Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism.
If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send a provisional title and a short abstract (200 to 300 words) no later than August 17th to PennDCC@gmail.com.

Depart from the Grad Center, 3615 Locust Walk
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Philly on this walking tour of the city. At the conclusion of the tour, take advantage of Philly’s unique ‘First Fridays’ to explore the vibrant arts community of historic Old City, where the neighborhood’s 40+ galleries will be open late. SEPTA tokens for transport to and from downtown Philly will be provided for this event.
